An Introduction to Beijing Gehua Cable TV Network Co., Ltd.
Beijing Gehua Cable TV Network Co., Ltd. (henceforth “Gehua Cable”), which was approved to be founded by Beijing municipal government in September, 1999, takes responsibility of construction, development, management, running and maintenance of broadcasting and cable TV network as well as reception and transmission of broadcasting and cable TV programs within the area of Beijing. Gehua Cable is also a new and advanced-technology enterprise approved by Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission. By the approval of the State Information Industry Ministry, the State Administration of Radio, Film & Television and China Securities Regulatory Commission(henceforth “SARFT”), Gehua Cable was listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange (exchange code: 600037) in 2001. In May, 2004, 1.25 billion yuan of convertible bonds was published.

Under the support and leadership of Beijing municipal party committee, Beijing municipal government and other relative units, Gehua Cable successively finished the purchase of the cable network in the near and outer suburbs and realized the goal of “one city, one network” in February, 2002. Currently a large-scale cable network that reaches the entire city of Beijing’s 18 districts is taking shape. The number of subscribers reaches over 3.2 million. At present, over 100 channels are transmitted within the cable network.

Beijing broadcasting and cable TV network adopts the advanced loop-type topological structure, with one primary fiber cable transmission line composing the basic transmission loop and a number of secondary fiber cable transmission loops as the transmission system. The secondary transmission centers constitute the distribution transmission system by connecting a number of fiber nodes as well as electrical cable distribution network in the form of stelliform topology. Currently, over 10 thousand kilometers fiber cable, over 100 thousand electrical cable network and more than 300 transmission centers has been installed in the city.

As the broadband information transmission network, Beijing broadcasting and cable TV network can support such value-added business as high-speed data transmission, internet connecting, VOD, remote education, remote medical care, tele-conferencing, and E-business, etc. According to the requirement of SARFT, the platform of Digital broadcasting and TV system has been established and improved for the demand of “Digital Beijing, Digital Olympics”.
